Lower rear hatch motor does not fully open/close

Without any warning.

Open with exterior "handle", top opens fine. Press button on lower and it just unlatches, no movement by motor.

Try to close both via top button and nothing happens.

Close lower manually and soft close works and latches.

Top then closes automatically.

Any advice?

I looked at codes and then cleared them, I will have to check them again tomorrow.

Any ideas? I did not see anything obstructing it.

Throwing code B144B-15 - Anti-Pinch Hardwired signal input - circuit short to battery or open (2B).

It threw a bunch of codes first time I read them, but after clearing them, this one persists. Current: 2017 L405 ATB, 2016 LR4 SE

The anti-pinch sensor is on the side of the lower tailgate - it comes as a complete unit that is the plastic on the side of the lower tailgate.

I had a similar issue - the lower tailgate would open, but not power close. If I pushed it manually the top part worked just fine.

Mine eventually turned out to be a broken wire on the tailgate wiring loom as well as a faulty anti-pinch sensor.
