Access to rear wheel arch from the boot

Hi All, I need to repair some rust in the top of the rear wheel arch on my L322. There seems to be rust in both panels where the inner and outer arches meet. I am talking about the top point of the arch. Anyone tackled this before? Ideally I would like to remove all the interior trim to expose the inner wheel arch. I can't find instructions for this.

I think you might be talking about the same area I have repaired, on mine it was the NS that needed sorting out.

Is this the area you are talking about?

There's a decent repair panel from eBay which covers most of the area that tends to rot out - on my car it was where the arch meets the door area but extended to roughly the area above the middle of the wheel. But I also had to patch the far righthand side of the arch where it had also gone bad.

Its actually quite hard to get into the very dark corners of that area but there's only really some sounded deadening on that panel and if your careful any welding can avoid setting anything alight. But there's quite a bit of electronics on the NS - if you have to do the other side might be easier??

I should have added that whilst your in that area of the car take the plastics off the sill and take a look, fortunately mine was solid after a previous repair so I just gave it a coat of Hammerite Waxoil Underbody spray and they are quite tidy and rust free.

You may as well take the pain now than leave it.

Hi, I am replacing the outer sills and jacking points on both sides. I have the ebay panel for the door shut area of the arch that extends right around the whole arch to the rear bumper cover. I seem to have rust at the top of the arch in both the inner and outer skins. As you indicate, the worry is setting fire to material and wiring inside the wheel arch. It seems to be only the offside (driver UK) that has this problem on mine. What is not obvious, is how to repair the inner skin.
