MOT Fail

Right failed an MOT test and i now have the following:
2 x Major defects, nearside & Offside sills (rear)
2 x Minor defects, loose nearside mirror & CV boot (front)
18 x advisories (all suspension bushes mostly to the rear & a rusty rear subframe)

I've been told by wife and daughter that it must go back on the road so I'm going to be a busy lad. so question how easy is it to remove the rear subframe?

thinking about getting it blasted and powder coated before replacing all bushes, air bags etc.

Hi, there are a few threads about dropping the rear subframe on the drive, but it's a daunting undertaking. I personally wouldn't attempt it at my age and acute chubbiness, but go for it.

I assume the issue with the sills revolves around rust impacts, panels are available.

This is going to be pricy, even doing it yourself, bushings are not cheap especially if you go poly inc welding, painting etc.

You don't mention the rest of the car, mileage / value etc. It sounds borderline to me, I'd probably move it on and get another better one to be honest. Fuji White / Jet 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster

thanks for the input, I did toy with the idea of getting rid until overridden by wife and daughter (a mechanic)..

Luckily I can weld, have the repair panels and all the bushes (a wise man told me just after buying the car that I would be needing a lot of parts so I've been collecting them in anticipation Laughing )

also a mate has a lift in his garage and has offered it's use for the removal/refitting but as you say it's looking to be a big job.

Watch this space, might make a good article
