Assuming it's an SDV6, you then need to check if the Disco 4 is Gen 1 or Gen 2 as the velar unit will definitely be a Gen 2. You cannot downgrade a Gen 2 to Gen 1 spec as the block is different due to the electronic oil pump fitted to the Gen 2 unit. The Gen 2 units are marked around the throttle body area with a Gen 2 label so should be quite obvious. L405 SV Autobiography LWB SDV8, finished in Aston Martin China Grey by ETO division. |

I'm no expert on the Disco 4 as I have a Gen 1 L494 SDV6 & a L405 SDV8, but looking at the parts catalogue the Disco could be Gen 1 or 2 depending on Vin/build date in 2016. Obviously the Velar would be Gen 2. The short block for a Gen 2 D4 & the velar are the same part number but the stripped engine is a different part no. As regards to the sump the part is not available other than buying a stripped engine so I cannot say whether they are the same or not!
