Rear wash wipe mod.

I'm back in the fold with my recently acquired 4.2sc.

Having rebuilt the rear wash wipe a couple of weeks back due to it being full of crud and siezed up,I noticed the occasional drip from the inside, due to the crap design of the fluid running through the motor.

This led me to re-running of the washer fluid pipe,up through the top of the tail gate,(the pipe just fits when the top spoiler is refitted)and onto 2 x universal washer jets that snap onto the washer arm itself, hopefully increasing the longevity of the rear wiper and giving a much better spray of fluid on the rear screen.

I order the 2 items from Amazon, less than £20 all in and 30 minutes of my time.

Interesting. I find the stock jet system very poor as it's impossible to get the fluid to cover the screen properly and you either get not enough fluid on part of the screen or too much fluid that drips after the wipe has stopped 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

That is much better, and a better design than JLR

Thanks for posting this, I've carried out this modification on my RR today and not only will it extend the life of the wiper motor, the spray pattern on the window is much better

Treid to do this today in combo with replacing the high level brake light which is missing some pixels but the electrical connectors were corroded up and it will need more time. Did you push the hose out through the gromet for the camera or brake light as I wouldn't want to compromise weather sealing here as there are a lot of electrics in the inner upper tailgate. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Just pushed it up through the bigger hole and sealed it with silicone.

Hi,
This is how I did mine if that helps.
I also brought mine up through the spoiler housing by drilling a hole.
On mine the spoiler was squashing the pipe if I tried to run it out under the spoiler.
Definitely a good mod, I'm not sure who thought running the washer fluid through the motor was a good idea!

What a brilliant solution 10/10, my rear screen wash stopped working ages ago, however the wiper still works. Ordered those clip on screen jets that you have fitted plus tubing today.
Thanks

Many thanks to the original poster.
I have joined the mod club this afternoon, and can definitely say my rear screen has never been as clean.

Please don’t tell anyone, but I have a confession to make.
The only difficulty I had doing the job, I couldn’t for the life of me get the centre M6 bolt back in the spoiler, maybe because I was so cold by that stage, so my rear spoiler is currently only held in place with the two end bolts.
Cheers and thanks
Mike.

Just an afterthought now that I have had a cup of tea and warmed up,

If anyone needs to replace the rear wiper arm and blade.
I suspect that the original part with the built in jets will be quite an expensive item, but by doing this mod it should be possible to replace it with a cheaper standard type arm and blade with no nozzles.

I think if it were mine, I would wrap the arm/tube with fabric loom tape getting rid of the ugly cable ties... Thumbs Up
