L405 Under body protection wanted

I am likely going to have to make this myself, but thought its worth an ask?

I am still building a replica of the Silk Trail L405, but with limited information available its been a challenge getting hold of any parts. So far I have ordered the expedition rack, roof bars, roof rails, Led lights, and have 1.5 inch lift kit installed, with 275 55 20 AT tyres, along with Grill mounted led light bars.

I dont think I will find a winch bumper either, so its likely that I will have to take the OEM crash bar off, and build something to replace this and accommodate the Adaptive cruise radar along with a winch mounting plate. Dont even get me started on the snorkel kit... most L322 kits or even places saying they have a kit for an L405 tend to be for the 3.0 Diesel and this only has one air box. Mine is the 4.4 SDV8 so it has two air boxes and I will need two snorkels for it, but they are all handed to the right hand side of the car, which I can only assume is where the air box is on the 3.0 Diesel.

Are any such items available for the L405? I was rather hoping that some elements of this could be bought, but so far everything has been hand made.

They really do look good, but because they were hybrids presumably the air intakes would be different.
(No snorkels fitted in this photo, but winch bar looks brilliant)

Good luck with project, I can’t wait to see pictures of your finished car.

Mike.

I think I've invested to much in the car now.... I paid 57k for the car second hand. But now according to we buy any car (dispite it being an SVO) it's worth 33k... I have recently spent thousands on it and had a full custom stainless exhaust made with EGR delete, DPF, removal and stage 3 remap. Along with this I've done a full 2019 rear end upgrade, bumper, lights, trims etc. And the android 10.25 inch screen upgrade. Front end is next but I'm building the winch mount first. I'm working with a local steel fabrication company who are going to custom build the winch mount to my spec and hopefully also custom build the under body protection.

I have almost finished the roof basket and it's about as close to the silk trail one as possible. Only difference is I am favouring a 42 inch cree LED light bar over the two individual spot lamps.

Rear winch box I am building to mount on the tow bar, and be powered from the tow bar electric point. (Seperate socket for high ampage) battery is in the boot so a cable directly out the bottom with waterproof sockets so that its plug and play and can stay in the boot until needed etc.

My brother in law is building a Porsche Rothmans 4x4 and I have been surprised at its 3 locking diffs and low range gear box and extraordinary raised hight capability with its air suspension set up. So we are planning a trip across Europe next year, likely sponsored to raise money for the RAF families. Approximately 2k miles mostly off road. So preparation is a must. I've decided not to take my expidition trailer because of the difficulty in maneuvering it off road.

I couldn't possibly say... unfortunately I am not mot or emissions expert. I wanted a re-map and they advised a stage 3 including EGR and DPF so can only assume the reputable tuning company stick to the confines of the Law Wink

If any of you have ever seen inside your intake by removing the map sensor you would likely want to stop all soot clogging your intake manifold.

Charles I bought the Devon UBP kit - only the front fits (sump) - the rear two plates fit the RRS; to their great credit they refunded me the amount in full (it had been freighted to Oz)

I am actually in the process of making my own under body protection out of 5mm steel plate. It should take up to 4T of weight on a 50p size surface area, so it should be very tough. It will of course add a considerable amount of weight to the vehicle
