Another thumbs up for Bodsy

Ian is just doing oil changes on the gearbox, both diffs and transfer case of my 2018 SDV8. A really fantastic service, he has also advised me of a potential oil cooler leak and worn front ball joints so I’ll be giving the selling dealer a call with the good news on Monday!

Ian also mentioned that the gearbox oil level was a little low and that the oil itself was filthy and I quote: ‘Looks like it’s done over a 100k miles, not the 54k the car has actually done’. Any ideas why it should be so dirty? All short distance city driving maybe? The online service history shows nine services in 52k miles so presumably that’s a good indicator of short journeys / oil contamination. Would that cane the gearbox fluid too? 2018 L405 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

Towing ?

Are ball joints expected at such a low mileage ?

It was £350 for the gearbox flush, then £180 for both diffs (E-diff on the rear) and the transfer case. I’d strongly recommend getting Ian in, as all the fluids in mine were disgusting - It was obvious that they had never been changed even though the OSH indicated that they had as per the service schedule. 2018 L405 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

He did my L322 in 2022 and was an absolute pleasure to deal with.

However now, in 2024 with an L405, he is impossible to get hold of and doesn’t reply. Too successful/busy I presume.
