The equipment aligns using the rims, not the tyres. If they do it properly, the wheels are rotated during the equipment attachment to adjust for rims with a slight buckle. |

If your wheels have been hit hard enough to buckle them I would say having your alignment checked would very worthwhile particularly as you already have uneven wear.

Makes sense, thanks, not sure how you hit the rears hard, unless fronts were switched onto the rears.

I've had loads of 4 wheel alignments done and none of them have been recorded 'in the book'. I do have all the receipts though. |

Worth having all the suspension bushes and arms checked before new tyres, the rear hub bushes wear and can cause uneven tyre wear...

By 'in the book' I mean in the service folder, like you I keep my receipts in there. May have been done with new tyres but who knows. What prompted so many 4 wheel alignments, were you having uneven wear? |

Thanks Haylands, I found a tyre place who use Hunter alignment for £75 which seems reasonable (might be the price just with new tyres possibly). How would you go about checking the bushes? I am assuming it will be the two near the brake caliper (5K792A and or B, not the big ones underneath where the arms connect to the body. No sign of damage from the outside of them and no knocking over bumps.

It's not that many really, mostly when changing cars and suspension bits and over a good number of years. |

Any decent garage, especially MOT ones, can check the bushes for you, you would hope the garage who does the alignment would do it but a lot don't... just worth getting things looked at before you spend more money... Pete
