Excessive amounts of white smoke could indicate head gasket failure on the M62 engine, I had it on mine and was lucky that no harm was done, quickly replaced with new gaskets and a full service at the same time, this was back in March 2022 with 169k miles on the ODO |

Thanks. Hoping that's not the case as seems too much of a coincidence that it started just after the work. I was wondering of the rocker gaskets haven't been seated properly. Can this cause the same issues? |

Doesn't look milky, to be honest I cam not sure what it it. Initially thought it was oil but doesn't seem to be leaving marks on the driveway where is has been leaking.

It could be oil from the service burning off? Is it definitely leaking? How many miles since the service? Leaking from rockers could cause the white smoke - I’ve experienced it - but you’d normally smell the oil as well, burning on the manifold. |

And if you need to use the car just keep a close eye on the temps and oil level. And carry coolant and oil with you just in case! That’s what I would do. And drive like miss daisy. 😉 |

Thanks. Fortunately, have another car I can use so the RR can wait until the mechanic has a chance to have a look.

It wouldn’t surprise me, they seem to be tricky to seal on V8’s. I did the gaskets on a petrol v8 and one side sealed great and the other still leaks - I’ve lived with it for a couple of years as it’s not too bad.

Ta. That's what I'm leaning towards. Ironically, I think trying to replace the gaskets has made things worse. |
