Warning Triangle installation: Wiring in the way

Hi Everyone,

I bought the LR Warning Triangle to install in my '09 L322. It should be a super simple installation but for one issue. There's some wiring that's in the way.

If you look in these pictures, I've put a red square around the bits that are in the way.

Before I start snipping zip ties and trying to reroute some of these wires, has anyone else run into this issue? If so, how did you reposition these bundles of wires?

Thanks in advance!

Yea, it'll fit there but it's supposed to go in this side pocket. And my OCD* demands that's where I put it! Smile

I think I can gently reposition those wire bundles a bit and then secure them again with some fresh zip ties. I'm pretty busy today (Thanksgiving holiday here in the USA) but I'll try to tackle this one over the weekend.

Thanks!
Larry.

* My OCD is actually pretty mild. I have a friend who has, "CDO." It's exactly the same as OCD but in the correct alphabetical order. Rolling with laughter 2009 Range Rover L322 Autobiography

Mine went in there no problem....

Put it in the hole at the bottom and shut the flap... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

When I try that the triangle is pressing against those wire bundles with a bit of pressure. These cars are famous enough for their electrical issues. Shocked

I'd rather see if I can get it to fit there without pressing on the wiring.

Thanks!

I hear you about the OCD...

Hope these will help.

The triangle fits at the recessed base while it's mounting/ holder is secured with a plastic pin in the hole at the top. (See arrows) I believe the wires won't be in the way like this.

You would think so, but that's not the case. With the top holder in the correct location those wires do interfere with the triangle.

I'll try carefully repositioning the wire bundles (no tugging, pulling or additional tension on them!) to see if I can get it to fit.

Thanks!

Trying to fit a genuine triangle myself and having the exact same problem - was rerouting the cabling the answer/possible? Thanks in advance.

My previous car, a 2005 TD6, had a slightly different top mounting bracket to the one in my current 2012 Westminster. The TD6 Bracket was all plastic and clipped flush around the triangle. The Westie definitely appears to have more cabling in that area, but the bracket is slightly angled and secures the triangle with a rubber strap which allows it to fit over the extra wiring behind. Maybe you need the later fitting bracket and strap too?

Thanks Rich, think you’ve nailed it. I’ll try to find the newer bracket, a picture would be incredibly helpful if you were able? Thumbs Up

I will do my best at the weekend when it’s light. Bear with me though as I’m not very savvy with technology and uploading a photo will be a new challenge! Laughing

I think I remember having a similar problem when I added 1 to our car a few months after purchase.

All I did though was apply steady pressure on the wiring loom until the warning triangle would fit.
I was probably lucky that I was doing it on a relatively warm UK day, so not that much effort required.
If you're trying it on a cold day, I'd suggesting adding some heat via a hairdryer to gain some flexibility. Paul,

Not really very helpful to the OP......

Many of us like things to be "correct" - I had the same issue and found that I just had to "tease" the wiring looms back a little with a couple of after market cable ties.

The part number appears to be LR011186 - Warning triangle bracket 2010-2012

Hope this helps.
