4.4 TDV8 ZF8 Gearbox Remap

Hi,

Not intended as a thread for debate on why one should want such a thing doing (but feel free if you must Smile )

But does anyone have any knowledge/experience of the ZF8 being 'remapped' in a Range Rover? I can't find anything on the inter-web that isn't BMW related.

Thanks

Never heard of it although I have had a software update on mine which changed it's 'feel'. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Was that via IID? Was it worth it? I've considered it too, but still interested to see if anyone has/can map them for this car.

Thanks

It's dealer access software only. Not sure it was 'worth it' but it's probably a good idea to have the latest software that benefits many years of use and adjustment on the L405. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

After-markets ZF8 updates are available. There's a person in AU who does the update which wasn't developed in AU although may have had some input but it should be available in the UK. It is oferred here either stand-alone or packaged with a pcm update for a reduced price. I'm very happy with mine's EGR delete + minor performance enhancement and the standard gearbox mapping which works very well for my usage.

I enquired with various tuners about this a few years ago.

Land Rover used their own ECU for this gearbox and not the ZF ECU (which you will have read about people being able to remap), namely on BMWs. The Land Rover ECU used is locked and it's not possible to remap the gearbox ECU.

Good results can be had from a remap of the engine ECU however, to alter timings and deliver a more instant response. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

I believe all "aftermarket" gearbox remaps are pretty much adaption resets! So be careful not to get ripped off ladies & gents... Whistle
