Failed 22a Software Update

Quote:
Downloaded the 22a software, but it after an hour, it hasn’t installed. This morning was initially met with dead screens (now back to life), but it’s still on 21b.

Is there a way to force the install?

Edit - it’s updated itself now.

Is that the 1/12/22 update? Is there no more recent update now that Pivi Pro reigns supreme. Are those of us with In Control now considered to be not worthy of software updates? Grr!

Hi Nubbin,

Yes, I’m afraid you are correct.

But, every cloud has a silver lining as they say: 22A seems to be pretty trouble-free and stable, and if further “updates” were made available, knowing JLR, they’d probably only introduce further issues Laughing

In the past I always used to be a zealous “updater”, but nowadays, in total contravention of my footer below, as far as electronics are concerned, I stick with whatever’s not currently causing me grief!

Mechanical stuff? Well, that’s another story………. Laughing “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

I agree with that for sure! I've just had the free security update done on mine, and asked the dealer about updates - they thought I meant vehicle software and gave me a "If it ain't broke..." line, saying that if they updated the vehicle and something didn't work, it could easily cost ME (!) £2-3000 to fix!

I wish I could just update my software to Pivi Pro but it's an entirely different system, and the only thing that irritates me about ICTP is the dreadful satnav system, with it's amusing pronunciations of place names, and routing down the tiniest side road to save 1 second of driving. Oh and the terrible lag particularly on start-up, which can take up to a minute to get going. And asking you to log in with passwords when you're hurtling down the motorway. Shocked

Never bothered with the car sat nav, always have Waze on CarPlay. As for 22a, connection etc seems fine, but it does very occasionally simply not work when you turn on the ignition - two black screens which need a turn off-lock-unlock-turn on again.

Anybody knows if i can reinstall an already installed software version?
After numerous attempts, I managed to get to S22A_22.32 which is the latest available, but i cannot get carplay to work…
Maybe reinstalling could make a difference, but i cannot find such an option

@LiKuid:

No offense intended, but you are aware that Apple CarPlay on the 2017 is only with a USB cable, it’s not wireless?

I upgraded my own MY2017 with this wireless module, which is great:

thanks for that. I know that it is wired, although i ve forgotten about it in the first place.
The thing is that given i ve got a usb-c iphone, i used a non genuine USB A to C cable which also may cause issues. So, i used my wife's iphone (lightning) with a genuine cable but still to no avail... Both USBs should work for carplay. Correct?

Is Carplay enabled on the phones, and in the car menu? “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

How do you enable carplay in the car menu?
The iphone works via carplay in my other vehicles, so dont think there's anything to enable there.

I had a LOT of problems updating software, caused by lack of voltage from a weak battery, as soon as I changed the battery, everything worked perfectly, so check the. Battery SOH (rather than SOC). Switching on the ignition without the engine running will cause a drop of almost one volt, so if battery is old, it may be too low. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

I am on S22A_22.32
The update was performed while driving in order not to drain the battery. I used the Iphone's 4g as a hotspot
