L322 2011 TDV8 - Parking Sensors

Hi everyone - bit of guidance required on a PDC issue please.

I've (just) got a 2011 4.4 TDV8 - I am immediately in love but already, the gremlins are strong. It was sold as having "intermittent" parking sensors which didn't really both me as the spec was what I wanted but further use has revealed the button appears to be completely dead - no beeps, etc. However, the reversing camera works fine with all graphics etc.

Could this still be the module?

Thanks a mil.

If the button does not flash at all then IME it's the PAM ( Parking assist module). Unfortunately they are prone to failure due to water ingress

and new ones are £400. I've never had any luck with used ones and there is a distinct possibility that they get paired to the car on first installation which prevents them working on another car although this may not be 100% true. After my 2nd one failed again due to water ingress I mounted it upside down in a zip tied plastic bag. The other main reason for failure is a broken wire to a sensor which I've also had but this shows a fault flash on the switch and the GAP IID tool will tell you which sensor has failed. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Great thanks - and this would be the issue even with the camera working? I'd thought, probably incorrectly, that this would be dead too if the PAM was knackered...

I had an Adaptive Dynamics unit repaired before for my old L322 which had got wet - it was significantly cheaper than a new unit and didn't need to be recoded... With a bit of luck, I can find them again!

The reverse camera is not connected to the PAM (which is either a good design or accident by JLR) 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I have a similar problem but the LED is always on (with ignition) but the cameras seem to be fine although the delay annoys me.

Also chucks B1B54-12 Function LED - Short to Battery (2f)

Interestingly, all the sensors give a sensible reading in IID and respond to obstruction.

I'd bet on it being the PAM, but with fairly localised shmoo bleeding voltage from IGN to the LED somewhere on the board.

I have to fit a new battery tomorrow morning but I'll pull the PAM and look up its skirt if I have time afterwards. 2011c Vogue SE 4.4 Oil Burner

Sorry to hijack but having just acquired myself a 2012 TDV8 Westminster and working through the inevitable teething troubles, as this isn't one of them could someone tell me where the PAM is located so that if possible I can take some preventative measures to protect it?

Many thanks

It's located behind the flap at the left rear of the luggage compartment. Lower rear with three plugs inserted from above.
Had mine out today and it was immaculate with no sign whatsoever of water ingress. Internally, it looked new. Totally unlike the month old loaf appearance that the failed ones posted here show. While this is good it's also tricky as the other options are the PAM switch or the wiring, neither of which are anywhere near as easy to fix as a manky module.
Ho hum. I'll need to dismantle the climate control panel now.😬 2011c Vogue SE 4.4 Oil Burner
