I have just had the battery replaced and I am not sure if this is related to this issue or just a coincidence.

The rear tailgate, when the button on the remote or in the car, raises to about three quarters height then stops and beeps. If I press the button again it will carry on and fully open. When I go to close it it will close but looks like it is not flush and if I press the lock button the car bleeps twice but doesn't lock and if I look at the dash, it's telling me the boot is open.

If I manually close the boot then the car will lock, I have looked to see if there are any obstructions and I cannot see any. It was working fine before the battery change.

I had something very similar after an oil change service at my local dealer, it wouldn't comply with the reset position procedure. I tried all sorts and it wasn't playing. Reported it to the dealers to go back and fix but then after a long journey it sorted itself out, never to return. First time FFRR owner

As advised by Phoenix on another thread tonight:-

“ Manually fully close and open the tailgate & the liftgate, with the lift gate in its fully open position, press and hold the close button until you hear a couple of chirps, that should reset the extents and all will work as expected.”

 “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

I also changed my battery last weekend and had exactly the same problem with the tailgate, and the problem is that if the car thinks its not closed you are unable to lock it
I tried all the reset procedures with no success

It turned out my problem was that one of the trim panels on the lower tailgate that have the anti pinch sensors built into them was not fitted properly, I removed them both and refitted them, problem solved
