Residual coolant stink!

Having had a coolat hose ripped by the fan, the coolant went everywhere in the bay and bonnet padding.

In the process of replacing the hose, just waiting for the parts, but it is going to smell badly of coolant.

Any hints how to get rid of it? Can I hose the engine bay? I am a bit scred of doing that as there are electric bits all over the place!

All tips appreciated Thumbs Up

As you've found out, coolant doesn't 'dry' - I'd suggest a surfactant / detergent mix in a garden sprayer bottle, give everything a good dousing and then wash it off with a hosepipe, as long as it's just hose pressure, even with the traditional 'Hozelock' end on it, you'll be fine as long as you're >30cm away from connectors etc. Give the Vee and the fan cowling a good dosing of detergent and washout - putting it on a slope or driving the front wheels up onto blocks will help rid it of standing water.
You might need to repeat after a 'dry-out' drive, but best to do with a cold engine IME.
