As someone in the brakes industry for more than 30 years, I can tell you that Brembo do NOT make friction linings or discs, only brake calipers, ditto TRW. No matter what it says on the boxes.

I've long suspected ECP of doing some dubious things with some manufacturers and providing substandard parts, particular with discs and pads (as in they get cheaper spec components, even if from the same manufacturer). However, if as you say Brembo only makes calipers, who makes their discs and pads? Because all products are listed on their website, including their excellent high performance HP2000 pads (genuinely the best high performance street pad I've used in the last 20+ years and 750k miles). It's the same with Pagid. Their high performance stuff is great, like the RSL29's, but I've seen some horrendous stuff from ECP/Carparts4less that I've been asked to fit by friends in the past. |

It's no surprise at all that a brand name don't actually make it's own products and they are outsourced. Doesn't mean it substandard in any way. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

If I am reading this correctly, you are asking how do you know of your car has the TRW calipers and not the ATE? LR used ATE until VIN 5A999999 and from VIN 6A000001 they used TRW. If you look at this page https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/brake-parts-51-c.asp it shows you the 2 options. If in doubt message them with your VIN, they will quickly confirm. |

Just to add, if yours is a 2008 I am fairly sure yours will be TRW, but please check.

That will be surprising news for Brembo, who have brake disc factories around the world. They also don’t licence the Brembo name, so even if something Brembo isn’t made in a Brembo factory, it’s made for Brembo. |

The Brembo brakes are manufactured in Nova Milanese, Italy.

According to their own website, Brembo have disc manufacturing plants in Europe, USA, Mexico, Brazil and China. |

That's a bit of a stretch to say they don't make discs or pads. Even if the factories are owned by third parties rather than just being offshored production in their own factories, they will still have their applied tests and quality control measures to their products, and if you take that view you could say that Land Rover don't make their cars because most of the parts are manufactured by other companies on their behalf. There are many good suppliers of parts, but if you said they had to have their own factory and be made in Europe then you'd have a small list, and it would include garbage like EBC. |
