I've now done the job twice as I broke the fan blades when fitting the new blower last time. If you damage the blades you limit your blower speed and the ability to use full demist or full cooling in the summer. The noise gets worse as the fan 'hamster wheels' break up and you also ruin the blower motor cover which you then need to source used.

Really useful - thanks Woody. Top tips and I'll definitely be making a note.

If you follow my guide, there's no need to cut. Using the pry bar to gently lift the loom was sufficient to get the blower motor in and out. I'd also point out to follow my note around orientation when removing and installing the blower. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8 |

There is a trick. There's a step in my guide on it. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8 |

Your trick to remove worked great. I just dont have enough space to get my fingers on the side to guide the rod into place. Mainly because the drive air vent is in the way. I managed to bend it slightly but was hesitant to force it. I'll keep trying it |

Put it in 5mm-1cm above where it fits and at a angle whilst using a screwdriver to guide the rod into the groove, if you can't get your fingers in there. It shouldn't need any force. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8 |

One thing to note is that the instructions in this thread don't cover all years. Early L322 and later L322 are significantly different. I think the later cars are easier to do.
What year model is yours, Woody? Mine's a 2003. I broke mine, too. I did a repair using fine bronze wire, dental floss, and superglue which seems to be holding up. i just avoid maximum fan speed.
This was the inside of the fan cover when I initially pulled it all apart. ![]() 2003 L322 V8 Auto 2007 Yamaha XJR1300 Previous: 1983, 1986 RRC; 1995, 1996 P38A; 1995 Disco1; 1984 V8 County 110; Series IIA |

The difference with the earlier cars is you need to cut out the panel behind the dash in order to remove the fan motor. As stated in my guide, there's is a particular angle in which to remove the fan motor, and you can use a pry bar to raise the wiring loom whilst removing the fan, if you need that bit extra clearance. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8 |
