I bet it's not 100 times smoother and more comfortable than the Range with those whacking great alloys and rubber band tyres on.

Always thought the same... Sold the Range Rover a few months ago (cause I needed to ) and replaced it with a 07 VW Golf R32 to use as my everyday transport. Always had Golfs GTIs before having RR's, and thought it would be good idea to go back to using them for a while and the top spec R32 would be the one to have. Despite it being a good looking car and very quick - its costing me as much, if not more, than my old 56 TDV8 ever did to drive about. The ride is awful hard on the kidneys when driving on roads which are anything less than perfect, and since my ownership it now needs complete new set of wheels and tyres cause of 'their' attraction for kerbs and potholes etc. Despite it being DSG Auto, without 100% absolute concentration, it is near impossible to crawl in traffic, due to the power being all or nothing when using the throttle and can make you look like a right chavvy tit when pulling away from lights etc - and its too easy to select S (Sport) instead of D (Drive) without realising, so it sounds like the gear doesn't change until you hit 8000rpm. The list of things I don't like about it goes on and on and maybe the GTI might well have been a better, certainly cheaper option to have - but one thing is for certain... ...I miss my FFRR so much |

Sorry but comparing owning a huge big engined prestige Range Rover with a smallish VW Golf is a bit daft in my opinion. Yes the Golf is one of the best cars in its class but then so is the Range Rover in its class. If you are happier with the Golf then you probably never really needed the Range Rover. Its just so different I find it hard to see why you would compare them |
