I had an E60 545 sport before I came to the RR S/C. It was rather nice, and I had it for 3 years, which is an age for me!

The only thing that put me off the M5 was the fact it's the kind of car that "demands" to be driven and I wouldn't want that all the time.
I guess it's the old story that there isn't a car that is all things to all men, and any 1 car is always a compromise in 1 department or another.

the L322 is one of he best cars ever made.... i have owned both a mk1 & mk2 gti and love them, got a mk5 now but better than a range rover i dont think so. 2004 black Vogue TD6

Wouldn't want to get rid of the FFRR for the world, best car I have ever driven (and I have owned and driven a lot of different cars). I can appreciate a nice non FFRR car (would love to drive/have an Aston Martin or Ferrari some day) and realize that not everyone can be a FFRR fan.
So enjoy the non FFRRs as much as I enjoy the FFRR  MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

270 - never knew that was possible from a 2 litre single turbo diesel. How did you get that much?

It's a 1.9 TDi.
Quite a few tweaks, including a water cooled hybrid turbo, polished head, custom manifold, methanol injection etc...

Had it at Brands Hatch on Monday and did 70 laps in about +28c. No issues, which was nice.

There's your everyday driving and there's your FFRR driving - one is considerable more expensive than the other and one is not interesting or special (admittedly sometimes interesting/special in a bad way). I can see the attraction of both  Geoff

Not when you are on a narrow mountain track, with loggers above you, dropping massive trees in front of you, behind you, a steep ,long , downward slope to the one side of you, and no-one hearing your yelling , above the sound of multiple chain saws all over. (And for once you've forgotten your cell-phone, and you are unable to call the meat wagon to remove your mangled remains and inform your next of kin!!!)
I extricated myself by driving over the narrower tree- top end, I was in my Defender TD5.
I have every confidence that had I been in my FFRR, I could have done likewise.
The FFRR is 2 vehicles, in one. Comfort, luxury and prestige, PLUS huge off-road capability.
Here in Portugal, every day you need to practice your defensive driving techniques, when some tw@t going in the other direction cuts over onto your side of the road in a curve , in the FFRR, I feel my chances of survival in a head-on, are much increased. I agree with Kurt re: towing, a big HB510 and 2, very large Lusitanos, is no problem at all.
