HandBrake Cable out of the expander

So having problem with my 07 tdv8 handbrake.
Checked both sides by taking disks off and on passenger side, the cable is out of the expander which holds both pads.

Tried to pull it a little bit so i can put it back into the actuator, but its hard and there is barely any space.

Could you please advise how to pull this cable end wee bit so i can put it back into the expander.

thanks

If it's the same handbrake arrangement as my 06 TD6, then a pair of thin pliers will let you pull it out sufficiently to refit the actuator. You're pulling it against the spring-loaded adjuster at the handbrake end.

It's a cable with spring and then a bit is attached to the cable which latches into the expander.
The two handbrake shoes fit in the grooves on the either side of the expander.

The first pic in this thread show the expander.

I did try to pull it few times but it wouldn't budge and I was a bit scared to note break the bit from the cable.

Will try again tomorrow with a small pliers.

What if I pull the emergency release cable in the boot, will it release the tension on the cable.

Update: pulling the emergency release cable in the boot compartment sorted it. Could attach the expander to the cable.

Thanks for the help.
