U may be right , a number of products out there . https://pestkill.org/mice/peppermint-oil/ Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc He who dies with the most toys wins... |

I don't need to, a nice warm engine bay or a dry spot out of the wind is often enough to cause one nights chaos, Sometimes they get lucky and find acorns etc. under the bonnet or scuttle, sometimes they get really lucky and find the cabin air vents behind the rear lights and let themselves in that way, feasting on all the crumbs etc. inside the car... Rodent's don't like to go around obstacles, they'll chew through them if they can, be it trim, wiring harness, fuel lines etc. etc. They really are relentless little feckers, one even managed to wreck a turbo by nesting in an air filter, then getting drawn into the turbo by a hole it'd chewed in the air filter, it's skull was hard enough and impacted with enough force to damage the vanes. I have no idea where the rest of it went, probably cremated at 2500rpm after being minced by the turbo - or could well be partially blocking an intercooler. |

I discovered by "chance" during a check-up by my indie that my L322 2012 TDV8 has a rodent repellent "Ultrasonic" device installed at the bottom of the engine. it looks like a running wire looping under the engine and supposedly repell all rodents...

I recently discovered early signs of chewing some wires, fortunately they had gone specifically for some accessory wires I’d wrapped in self-amalgamating tape. I got one of these from AE for £4.95 and modded it slightly to fit on the relay box already bolted to the inner wing:

I was very surprised when this first happened to me - after so many years in the same place, with so many different cars - why now? And why twice?

At least you haven't got a Fox problem - this happened to a family member who lost brakes which was a very frightening experience

"Another idea is that car manufacturers use some sort or soy or animal fat substance in the rubber coating that protects car wiring and this proves too difficult for foxes to resist"
