2007 FBH Remote Battery Drain

Hello all, had a look around but cannot seem to find a similar related issue. Apologies if I've missed anything.

FBH working absolutely fine, remote works absolutely fine. All good (somewhat rare from what I believe?). The new issue over the past 3 weeks is that the remote itself is eating batteries like they are going out of fashion. Brand new Duracel batteries installed, used the FBH once. A few days later batteries flashing red. Swap batteries out for brand new duracel again, was able to use the remote twice without issue, then the 3rd time a few days later batteries are completely dead.

I've been sure to store the remote face up so nothing is pressing on it. I don't believe the remote is permenantly transmitting as I've not got into the car to find that the FBH has been doing its thing.

Any ideas please?

Just a thought, did you buy a multi pack of the button cell batteries? I did that a while back to renew my car key batteries. Turns out the batteries must have been nearly dead when purchased, bought some more and that solved the problem. Otherwise, open up the remote and inspect / check / clean with contact cleaner and try again.
Inside I would think that there is a tiny switch on a PCB that is depressed when you press the fob button, maybe this could be stuck ? Hopefully an expert will be along soon with another post.

It was indeed a multi-pack (of 2, and I bought x2 packs so potentially separate). Could be a dodgy batch though in fairness, I'll get the multimeter on the replacement batteries and see if they are good from the get go. The batteries for the FBH remote I have are CR123A.

I've got some electrical contact cleaner which I might give a careful go on the contacts and see if there's anything amiss. Appreciate your reply and advice Merchy - ta muchly Smile

Mine would indicate bad battery. Changed battery, same issue next day. Turned out the battery wasn't making good contact in the remote. Try to carefully bend the central contact up. Scrape both contacts with a sharp tool.

Thank you I did exactly that, contact cleaner and scraping any dirt off the terminal contacts as well as pulling the contacts out a little bit to ensure a more secure fit for the battery. With the weather picking up I've not had to use the FBH so not checked the battery for a little while. Hopefully that's solved the issue.

Appreciate your replies Smile
