My Lovely ? 3.6tdi Vogue has developed yet another strange and intermittent issue. Every now and then when I insert the key there is no audible clicking (which I assume is the transponders linking together). if I turn the key everything goes blank. If I get out and lock and then unlock the car, it appears to sort it out and the car will start. However, this process requires me to re-set the clock, the radio and the trip computer goes back to zero. Another strange thing is that the Inspection notice appears with spurious dates, the latest today being January 2004 ( the car is a 2009 ) . I am suspicious of the key fob as it is very worn but anyone got any ideas or even had the same thing happen ?

Update -- Just found the reason for the change in the dates of inspection indication. The clock AND the date both needed resetting
