Madonna the L322 2011 Vogue SE Zermatt TDV8

Madonna the L322 2011 Vogue SE Zermatt TDV8
Note: SWMBO gives all our cars names. Although I’m not sure “Madonna” suits the FF but she is a big girl…

I still cannot believe we managed to find this car. A big Thank you to AnotherMutley for the tip on this FF.
Would not have known this car was for sale if it was not for the link to the sellers advert.

The FF is a cherished 39k-mile late 2011 Vogue SE. Loads of extras such as genuine LR retracting s/steps, remote heater gizmo, LR removable tow ball with twin electrics etc.

It has been cherished and kept in a heated and dehumidified garage. With the sellers beautiful collection of vehicles, including a 2 owner from new, Dino 246 GT! I could have spent the whole day admiring all his cars.

The interior is unmarked, so are the alloys and spare wheel (like new), I found a few stone chips on the front valance and that was me being very picky.I spent 2-hours looking at the car and was astonished that it was so clean.

I just could not believe my luck. The seller agreed a price and the deal was done.

Collection was faultless and so was the drive home.

I’m compiling a list of things to “tweak”. Thank you mjdronfield for the LED sidelight recommendation. Ordered from fleaBay. But first the FF will go to the specialist for a thorough health check.

Only embarrassing moments, which I will share with you, long as you don’t tell anyone….

Went to put FF into double-garage. SWMBO was on a set of step ladders in other garage - to judge height clearance. As previous Defender would only just fit height-wise.
There’s me driving in sloooowly on tick over being OCD careful. Then I remember you can adjust the height. Car lowers itself and SWMBO looks on in amazement. We both laugh and me feels rather stupid. Defender did not have adjustable air suspension.
-Although I need to remember to not stupidly raise height before exiting garage…

Anyways every day is a school day.

Pic of FF in garage.

Lock it in access mode and it won’t rise when you move. All in Owners Handbook but simply hold down button when in access and it will lock. Repeat to unlock Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

That looks well at home in your garage.

Not sure if you can wrap some foam round what’s hanging from your ceiling in case you forget to lower, but might pay you to test it at normal height just in case it fits. Can’t tell from the pic exactly how much spare height you have.

And I’d turn the Logic 7 off on the stereo when listening to normal music. Up to you, obviously, try with on and off… but didn’t get that much out the main speakers with it on.

Speakers on rear D posts are mainly surround, so won’t get much from them anyway.

Have you got a separate fob for remote control of the fuel burning heater?

Thank you, thank you, for your kind replies.

Spot on Johnboy! SWMBO was singing those lyrics…

@drrob. Great advice. That makes a lot of sense.

@mjd - it’s the frame for the up-and-over garage door. It’s a good few inches clear. But new doors are coming in 2-weeks. Btw - new doors are sectional and the frame is not so intrusive. Supposed to be more secure and better thermal insulation blah, blah. Will provide an update once installed.

The seller says Fbh fob is in the centre console. I will check tomorrow and confirm.

Thank you for all the advice & feedback Bow down Current: L322 2011 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE, MB GLB AMG35, Renault Clio R200 Cup

It looks in great condition; good choice. FWIW: I noted the standard, access mode and off road heights from the handbook, printed them with a label printer and stuck them onto the back of the driver’s side sun-visor. That way if I (or SWMBO) suffer a “senior moment” going into/out of a car park with a height restriction I can quickly check and drive out confidently pretending I remembered accurately all along ! TDV8 4.4 2012

@Ramblin Man: That is a great idea. And I have a label printer - somewhere in the loft... So will get this done.

I read in another thread about the "Gap IID Tool BT G3".

Can we purchase via Forum sponsor or is it direct from https://www.gap-diagnostic.com/products/iidtool/?
Note: I did try viewing site sponsors but my ninja search skills are lacking...

Many thanks! Current: L322 2011 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE, MB GLB AMG35, Renault Clio R200 Cup

re: IID. Buy it from Island 4x4 or Duckworths (site sponsor). Buy from GAP direct and you'll be stung with import charges.
I would not drive anywhere without my IID in the car. Modern day essential kit. Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

***Short update***
-Ordered replacement battery for Fuel Burning Heater Remote Control. Fingers crossed it works. I will follow the Wiki guide on how to reprogram if it does not work.
-The LED side indicate bulbs arrived. See pic below. Q. Are they the correct ones?

Yes, they look like the right bulbs. No idea if they have to go in one way round, can’t remember, but just check they work before fitting the unit back in the wing.

They don’t slide that much to the rear of the car, I just put pressure backwards with a slight pressure outwards on the front edge. You just seem to push it back against like a plastic spring. You will see how it fits when you remove it, so second one is more straightforward.

Thanks mjd and drrob. And yes, I must have been a tad keen, and ordered 2 packs…
If one pack works then I promise to donate to our forum.
Ps. I pinged Duckworth’s for pricing ref: GAP-IIDBT tool. Current: L322 2011 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE, MB GLB AMG35, Renault Clio R200 Cup
