TDV8 4.4 fuel tank capacity?

Gents,

the manual clearly states the fuel tank is 97 l (21.3 gallons). The guys at the dealership told me that is not correct and the fuel tank is "about 90 liters". Yesterday I drove to fill up the tank when I had 1/2 left and I've paid for 42.3 liters to get it full.

So, if 42.3 equals 1/2 then 84.3 is the full tank. Well, I can round up to 90, but not to 97 Rolling Eyes

So here comes the question, how big is the TDV8 4.4 fuel tank? Whistle

Thanks for the input Thumbs Up Santorini Black RR Vogue 4.4 TDV8

The fuel gauge isn't very accurate from my experience. There's more in the tank than you think. I've managed 103 litres in my old td6.

According to the manual in my 2007 TDV8, 106 litres is the number. Seems about right since I squeezed 98 litres in on the biggest fill up ever (light was on)

They are hopelessly unreliable.

I always thought they were supposed to be 102-104 litres.

Mine was apparently down to 10 miles range yesterday and I could still only get 90 litres in. Evil or Very Mad

I think I am going to buy a jerry can for Diesel and have it in the boot and see just how far beyond "Range = 0 miles" I can get, put a gallon in and then go fill up to see how many litres go in. Discovery 4 HSE

I never did get this. If the fuel pickup is at the bottom of the tank it's gonna get the dirt anyway. If it's not at the bottom then it couldn't get to the last X gallons. Urban myth methinks.

You will still get air in the injection system and have to get it bled.

Unless diesel systems have got more sophisticated.

My TD6 gives a range of say 30km's, then suddenly drops down to 10, 5, 2 - ARRRGGGGHHHH where's the fuel station!

Never got 100 litres in it though - maybe 98-9 if I remember.

Shall we just agree it's a big tank Smile

Does it really matter exactly how big, it isn't really one of those things in life where size matters Laughing No longer FF owner but still interested. Present car Jaguar XE
