Viscous fan issue code P0480-13

Hi, I’m reposting as I’m not having great luck trying to to find answers. 2012 fullfatrr Sc

Recently I got the “restricted performance” and the code is P0480-13 which indicated fan 1 open circuit. I checked fan (viscous) connections and fuse which is all good. Some research indicated fan replacement but I don’t want to replace unless necessary. Fan used to make a loud noise / roar on start up and driving but now it’s quiet and spins normal. Did the newspaper check and didn’t stop, temperature normal, cooling and heating is good.

Any suggestions?

Viscous fan clutch fixed

Update: replaced viscous fan and trouble codes as well as “restricted performance” disappeared.

Checked continuity on old fan...nothing as opposed to continuity showing on the new fan. So my guess is that there was a open circuit on the fan clutch which was sending a trouble code to the ECU.

Hope this helps anyone trying to solve the fan issue.
