If getting the wheels aligned does it have to be/ should it be done via Hunters 4 wheel alignment, i.e. is it a specialist job for the RR?

When I bought my AB from an independent I noticed it pulled very slightly left so they fitted new lower suspension arms on the front and new anti roll bar bushes. They then had a four wheel alignment carried out which showed green all round within tolerances. A few months later, I had new tyres fitted all round as the fronts were worn on the inside and rears were getting a bit thin. I decided to have a Hunter alignment carried out and despite no kerbing or similar, some of the readings were a fair way out. The operative did improve things, but said he couldn't get all adjustments within tolerance. That said, the car handles ok and I can't see any uneven wear on the new tyres. So in my case, was the first alignment really correct, and did the operative of the second alignment have the knowledge to adjust properly within tolerance ? In summary, I'd make sure it's done by someone who's familiar with the 405.

All MD's have to have a Hunter alignment machine as of 2016 ish...

So yes, i would always have mine aligned using a Hunter machine ONLY...

circa £100 seems the going rate for a hunters....imperial tyres here in swindon charged me that on my SC.. ... - .- -.

I was obliged to get two new tyres this weekend at KwikFit and they - I thought - kindly suggested a free check on the Hunter machine, saying they would charge only if an adjustment was needed at a standard price of £79.95 inc. VAT.

I could see the Fatty on the machine and the readouts were fed directly to the reception area where I was sitting. I could see it all being set up properly. The rears were bang on, but the front well off. Again, I could see the car, the operator and the readout as adjustment was made. I was rather impressed (low expectations, I suppose)!

As an aside, in 2014, at a main LR dealer, I was told they were unable to perform 4-wheel tracking on my then 2006 Fatty due 'to its age'

bit of a 'holy thread resurrection Batman' but thought I would just share my experience today with Kwik Fit

Quite impressed even though they did nothing.

I have approached them to do Hunter check plus balance 4 wheels as a (hopefully) fix to a slight vibration. The KF tech guy knew all about tight tolerance mode but also said they cant assist at that branch as I have adaptive cruise control (would also be the same if I had lane departure) Apparently to do the job properly these sensor need re calibrating after wheel alignment and the machine to do the job that cost £26K.

Only selected KF branches have this machine and thats trip for tomorrow.

He did quote £64.95 for alignment inc 4 adjustments and £6.95 per balance.

I appreciate the above thread touches on these point but this is the first time I have heard mention of ACC or Lane Departure sensors. to Kwik Fit. 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus
