United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Tonga Green
2008 GPS

Where do I find the GPS receiver in a 2008 Vogue please? The sat nav (that I’m not using but I want it right!) shows no GPS and there’s a GPS fault showing in IID.

If it sticks, force it. If it breaks, it needs replacing anyway.

The receiver is integrated in the nav unit in the left rear cubby hole. A possibility is that your gps aerial on the roof may need replacing.
Not an uncommon fault at that age. Do a forum search for gps aerial .

Just had a thought. When you installed the Navtool you may have disturbed the aerial connection at the back of the nav unit - the blue plug - as I assume you had to remove the unit to make the connections at the rear. John

Thanks Weegie. If it’s a big job then I’m not bothered as I use CarPlay now anyway. I’ll have a search…

Would just be nice to have it as it should be. Tym

Any GPS receiver that works on 5V will do, I used an old Garmin external receiver to resurrect mine, took the roof pod off, gutted the failed receiver out of it, Araldited the replacement in, refitted and ran the cable down the 'D' pillar to the navigation unit, drove round for 20 mins. so it could 'learn' the visible satellites and it's been fine ever since. Cost £0, time taken, 1.2 hours.

You may need an adapter cable depending on which GPS receiver you use.

I’ve got a spare usb one somewhere if I can be bothered taking the roof block off. Tym

USB one won't work... it needs data over power (co-axial connector) if you CBA to take the roof pod off, you could always blu-tack it to the trim in the boot next to a side window until you can 'BA'.

I honestly can't remember if the Nav. unit has a male or female Fakra connector so you'd need to check.

Thanks for the link Phoenix.

It’s one of jobs on my do-it-when-everything-else-is-done list.

I can set the position in the sat nav so it ‘knows’ where I am, but as I use CarPlay all the time having the factory sat nav working with the GPS isn’t a huge priority.

I’ll bookmark this so I can come back to the link you posted. Really appreciate that thank you. Tym

No worries - I tended to do some of the less-important jobs in lunch breaks at work so actually ended up doing them before the other jobs that needed more time / money investing in them!

Tymh i have a gps receiver i bought to plug into mine that you can put in the window. It's now surplus as I've just had a genuine roof antenna fitted to mine. It has the fakro plug so will plug directly into your satnav unit in the boot. £5 posted and it's yours.

Thanks but for now I’ll pass. It’s not something hugely important and I’ve got other issues (not car related) that need my attention at the moment.

As I use CarPlay anyway this was just a case of wanting it back (eventually) as it should be there.

Really appreciate the offer though. Tym

If the offer is open to anyone, I'll take it - No.2 Son has a Disco3 with non-functional GPS and it's the same Nav. unit.
