I put a Navtool in my 2008 and it was brilliant, although it involved a bit of soldering, I left it in when I sold it as it wouldn’t work in my 2012.

Do they do a kit for the laterL322 models now?

I’ve also got to find a solution for the old CLK I’ve just bought Whistle

Tymh - take a look at my Bluetooth install guide. Look at steps 5 and 9. A neat way of hiding a 3.5mm Jack cable and being able to close the lid. Just buy a 3.5mm female-female coupler to make life easier.

JoolsB - re the CLK, the old CLK systems don't control car settings so, you can just do a straight swap for a new touch screen Android head unit with Apple and Android car built in. There's various available on ebay and Aliexpress c£200. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Navtool's email response says version 6.0 with wireless carplay and Android auto for MY12 is available. My concern is installing this myself. Is it relatively plug and play as advertised? I'd also love to know whether I could route the audio through an Invery BT adapter instead of using the AUX port.

It is truly a case of connecting a few cables. Take the nav unit out of the frame to access the connections at the rear. The audio output is twin phono, but the supplied cable isn’t long enough to reach the aux port so I routed mine under the carpet. That was the longest part of the job! Tym

It’s completely plug and play. Very straightforward. You have to take the nav unit out (couple of bolts) to access the rear sockets.

Beaten to it. Very Happy John

Thanks for the input!

If I can determine that the NAVTOOL audio can be routed via Bluetooth to either a BT adapter for the AUX or a BT adapter for the iPod port I'll take a crack at this at some point in the next while.

Hi Tymh, Weegie

Any hints on the route for the audio cable from the Navtool to the Aux input? Which piece of carpet did you run under and how do I remove it? Do I need to take a seat out? This is the first time I've run a cable in the car and I'm a little sketchy on where to start!

I have the cable that Tymh recommended, and also seen the post from GaryRR on how to get through from the back of the Aux input panel - looks like a nice, neat solution. Thanks to both for the advice.

TIA

All the best, Rob. '07 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8

@rob

I took the aux cable down the left had side from the Navtool, managed to undo the centre console and lifted the back carpet up. It’s still a tight squeeze as the carpet is so thick due to the sound proofing material. You need to remove the read tread plate and partly remove the trim over the seatbelt pillar. Tym

Great. Thanks Tym.

The car is off for a service in a week's time. It's the first one since I bought it last month. I haven't been driving the car too much as I want to make sure it's been properly checked over and sorted first. I'm expecting it to stay with the indie mechanic for a few days. When it comes back, I'm going to get stuck into the Navtool as it will probably be my "go to" car after that.

I'll try and remember to take some photos and report back. Perhaps I should go the whole hog and do a video - the Navtool video is 3 years old and doesn't cover running the aux cable.

All the best, Rob '07 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8

Thanks @TYMH I’m currently comparing all the CarPlay upgrade options; it seems this one may be easiest to install!

The Navtool system is different for the post-2009. Have a good look at their website. AFAIK installation is as straightforward but there are, I believe, some differences in operation. For example, I think a remote is used.

Suggest you check it all out.

For the 2005 - 2009 model years it is excellent . I am delighted with its

Ugh, just saw this - if the remote is required for input and the touchscreen input is unavailable, well that's a dealbreaker for me (MY12) 2012 Supercharged L322

Hi Tym,

Just ordered mine today for my 2006 SC, and can’t wait to get it installed! I can’t find any install information regarding their wireless car play? I assume this is a separate unit? Does it also go into the rear cubby hole with the other unit (replacing sat nav)?
