2010 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Stornoway Grey

How could the garage have messed this repair up?

Vehicle failed mot on the following:
Repair immediately (major defects):
Offside Rear Suspension arm ball joint excessively worn upper balljoint/bush (5.3.4 (a) (i))

Bit surprised as it's only done 2k miles since the last test with no advisory then and it's had a service in between. Anyway, against my better judgement I got them to fix it (non specialist).

Got it back and now the steering wheel is offset although it didn't seem to pull. Thought I'd get them to look at it again when we got back from holiday. Away now on holiday and it's been handling a bit weirdly and getting worse and occasionally feels like something is loose underneath.

I'm not sure which joint this is, but anyone got any thoughts before I take it back to them? 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

Personally, I would not take it back to them as they could make things even worse. Get it to Glenrands. Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Whatever they've done on the rear will not have changed the steering geometry, something is awry.....

2005 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 V8 Java Black

Something doesn't sound right here. No advisory on last MOT, What service was done since then & is it the same garage replacing the joint as carried out the MOT?.

I would want to know exactly what they have done & possible let a good Indy look at it from now on.

This is exactly what I thought. It was the same garage that did the test but they do have an excellent reputation locally. I'm just wondering what they could have done wrong due to lack of experience perhaps.

Is this one of those joints that needs to be tightened with weight on the wheels? 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

I'm struggling to find a good indy locally. My usual is just too expensive now and cooked up the last job they did on it. 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

Strange that the steering wheel is out of alignment if they have only been working on the rear. A problem at the rear can affect steering and handling.

You need to find out from them exactly what was done. John

When you say that the steering wheel is out of alignment. I take it that you mean you're having more steering wheel input to maintain the correct steering angle.

As Weegie has mentioned. An issue with the rear geometry could effect this.

Let us know what they find or say, once you have taken it back to them.

My recommendation on local specialist given in previous post. Plus site sponsor and loan cars. I can only advise based on my onw personal experiences. Not sure why my photo didn't seem to show. Can anyone else see it?

As far as the steering wheel goes, when driving straight, the wheel is now at about 10 past 8. Its not pulling, its just not straight any more.

I'd love to take it to your specialist DrRob as they sound great but it's too far for me really. Anyone used Bagshot LDR? 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

Yes, steering feels fine apart from a strange feeling from the rear. I thought I was imagining it but it's quite noticeable on these twisty country lanes. 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

Photo clearly shows the new offset bolt replaced.
This controls the Rear wheel camber & as previously mentioned requires wheel alignment once replaced.

Once the geometry has been setup correctly it should drive much better
