WTF  2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

well Pete, even the wise are sometimes 'had' !!
im thinking that from the paint finish, its already had some repair work, and that has failed, and peeled off, possibly hail damage, or tree branch drop. might be worth cleaning the roof up well, to see if there are any clues as to how much was repaired.
-maybe the sprayers' arms weren't long enough to cover the base colour with enough clear coat?

I don't think I was had, the guy I got it from was shorter than me and who looks up there...

Yep, the centre panel of the roof has been sprayed before, I've had a good look over it and can't find any sinkage or tell tale sanding marks, just the orange peel paint... looks like it was done years ago when it was young... the roofbar covers are still there with no marks around them...

It shall remain a mystery, personally I like the seagull scenario....

I shall get this fatty sorted mechanically and run it for a bit to check it's not a Friday car, it's got FSH but there are some deferred maintenance issues that need sorting. Then it can have some TLC on paint/trim etc.... Pete

Passenger side airbox only feeds the 2nd stage turbo so hardly gets any use and hence why it's never changed as part of a normal service - it may even be the original one fitted at the factory. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Date stamped newer than the driver side or just cleaner than the driver side? 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

As the passenger side hardly gets used, it’s not inconceivable that both were changed at the same time…. Though obviously not that recently. Both of them being the same brand could back the theory up….. ?

As I said, it was "supposed" to have just been serviced, the passenger one looks new, the drivers side far from it. it just looks like they changed the wrong one....

Those rear shocks sound shot. One of mine went and the rear bounced like you describe, but was a simple change only taking an incomplete me a few hours.

Few more jobs done,

Replaced both rear dampers with genuine Bilstein CVD ones, it's composure has returned and it now feels very planted...

Changed the front off side outer CV boot, it was a right pain, the shaft would not come out of the hub, I know a guy who has a puller for it but forgot to ask before and he wasn't around so....

Took the whole front hub off complete with the full driveshaft, stuck it in the vice and got the shaft out the CV, changed the boot for a GKN one and filled it up with new grease...
