Now dont get me wrong i know very little about keeping tin maintained, flying it or working on it.

To this end how on earth is a hole in the fuselage from fire linked to an engine failure??

Fuel wouldn't ignite like that, and surely if something left the turbine housing at such speed as to be able to break out of it then there would have been more bits as the whole assembly became imbalanced and made more contact with bits and more got shed off?

It honestly looks like something in the hold/wing to fuselage arear has caught and lit up as the metal has suffered quite high temps looking at that and almost burned off in some way... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

jet a1 will ignite without too much trouble IME , aluminium and its alloys will burn at relatively low temps

I thought it had to vapourise or mist to be flammable at low temps? FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

You thought wrong

flash point 38 deg c

auto ignition about 200 deg C IIRC , still more stable than old avgas

It stood up well then for that wing to not have blown out entirely then looking at those pictures of the fuselage and wing section that caught Sad FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
