Hi chaps. Wondering if anyone can advise, I have a 2010 vogue se and it has the common rust along the bottom edge of the upper tailgate. It’s maybe a bit to far gone to repair so I’ve been looking for a replacement. I’ve seen one but the part numbers are slightly different. According to the jlr parts website, the part number for my car should be BHA760090, but the part number for the one I’ve seen is BHA760010. Have anyone got any experience changing the tailgate that could help?

When I looked a while ago there are two fitted, pre 2007 and post 2007, and from what I found, both are interchangeable, the earlier pre Tata ones don't rust so much...  Pete

I've just bought a 10MY upper tailgate for my 08MY, dimensionally the same, the only differences I can detect is the camera position on the spoiler and a different wiper motor - the metalwork is directly interchangeable so I can't see a different part number for a L322 not fitting...
The only corrosion I've found has been minor rust spots around the rubber seal mounting holes and the drains, all of which is easily treatable.

That's a rare find, a 10MY with no rust, (maybe it was a replacement under the rust warranty) make sure you fill it up with some rust preventer, then do it again to make sure...  Pete

It's already stripped and the (light) rust ground out, all the parts have a late '09 production date including the glass so it's probably the exception that breaks the rule! I've no history of the donor vehicle, so who knows?

I replaced my 2010 upper tail gate with a pre 2007 one and now the rear view camera does not give as good a view as before. I have been advised there is no adjustment on the camera, so it seems that the difference in part numbers might be because the camera fitting is different?

Did you have to change the wiper motor ?

The camera is mounted on the spoiler, the 10MY camera is in a different position on the spoiler and have a slightly different field of view and focal point due to the repositioning. The spoiler positioning on the tailgate and alignment with the 'D' pillars is dimensionally the same.

i must be lucky when i first bought my 2010 back in 2014 my first job was to spray inside the upper tailgate with cavity wax its still rust free

And that would have cost JLR about 2 1/2pence to do when they made them...

It is indeed - well over in fact.
Have just had mine done. The replacement panel alone was £1400 plus VAT.
Painting and other labour another £950 inc.

The earlyest tailgate from 02-06 is made from the best (BMW) steel... Ford ownership 06-09 saw them get thinner, lighter and rust more... 09-12 saw TATA take over and use wafer thin steel that rusts even quicker!
