Tomtom doesn't work with solar attenuating windscreen

Hi,

So my Tomtom can't get a signal in my L405 that has a solar attenuating windscreen

I contacted Tomtom on their chat, to ask if there was a way of fixing it.... here is what they said !

(12:23:21 PM) Richard Lambert: Hi, I have a 2016 Range Rover with solar attenuating windscreen and I cannot get a GPS signal on my Tomtom, any suggestions on how I can get it to work please?

(12:25:56 PM) Patrick: Thank you for contacting TomTom. My name is Patrick. I will be glad to assist you today.

(12:26:10 PM) Richard Lambert: hi

(12:27:25 PM) Patrick: I understand the windscreen is blocking the GPS signal for the device. I will surely help you.

(12:28:10 PM) Patrick: In this case one of the workaround we could try is to remove the coating from the area where the device is located which will allow the GPS signal to penetrate the windscreen and reach device

(12:28:40 PM) Richard Lambert: I am not doing that as it would damage the windscreen

(12:30:28 PM) Patrick: I understand however of the coating is designed to block the GPS signal there is nothing much a device could do. Device needs a environment where the GPS signals are not blocked. You could check with the car dealer for alternative for the coating

(12:31:33 PM) Richard Lambert: I am not changing the windscreen! Do you not have an external GPS receiver ?

(12:32:31 PM) Patrick: I'm sorry there is no such external extension which could receive the GPS signal externally

(12:33:11 PM) Richard Lambert: OK, so you have been no help whatsoever. Bye

Fat lot of use they were !! 2016 AB SDV8 Barolo black

I believe there is a space right up beside the mirror that is free of the coating and is where they advise to place toll tags in the handbook.

Someone who knows more then me will no doubt be along shortly though Smile

On that basis, it will be the black shaded area either side of the mirror housing. That’s where I have my Liber T tag.

Can you not get a satnav mount that allows you to mount the Tom Tom on the front side window at the bottom front corner. Should work ok mounted there. Thumbs Up
