sorry for being the newly with a issue

I have a 08 tdv8
last week it started fluctuating on the rev counter a little when cruising , it seems not to do it in cruise control mode and occasional misfire

so I have cleared all fault codes and left it running just in the garden

p007f code
now I know what the code means but I dont know where to start to fix it
all pipes seem clear and no splits , there was a odd loud noise like a flap opening and closing fast from the drivers side throttle body intake when the pipe is disconnected .

id really appreciate any help or just a place to start , im handy with the tools

thanks a lot

but I dont believe it to be a transmission issue

why would any transmission issue bring up engine fault on the dash and this fault code when its not even moving

thanks

With the 3.6 you have to suspect the EGR valves as likely fail 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Is there any way to prove they are at fault. Thanks

The EGR valves are PITA on these, but just be absolutely sure your top turbo hoses are not split before you go any further. Take them off to inspect them, especially under the webbing on the N/S one, they do split for fun on these engines.
Is the noise you heard on engine shutdown? If so this is normal, the EGR’s do a self clean process where they open and close fast for about 5 to 10 seconds after you switch off so would be heard louder with the pipe disconnected.
If your hoses are ok I would take it a run up to full temp then re-check for any other codes. Also does it miss the odd beat while warming up? Mine did this prior to it going into limp mode and was EGR sticking.
If you do end up changing them and your handy with spanner’s they’re not bad to do, but not cheap at about £400 per pair.

thanks mate . the noise was whilst running / yes it feels like it runs on 7 when warming up occasionally

the noise was like a butterfly valve opening and closing every 1 second

if its the egr valves I can change them , just dont want to waste money
the turbo pipes where replaced a year ago due to a split

just took the top turbo pipes off that go to the throttle bodies they are still perfect and no splits

do I literally just have to assume its the egr valve or can I prove it at all ?

thanks

Difficult to say without hearing it but certainly could be the EGR sticking, especially if you have the miss fire on warm up.
There is a butterfly valve behind each turbo hose in the manifold, you can see it with them removed so could eliminate that by running it with the hoses off and watching the butterfly’s. They close when you shut down so the engine stops smoothly, then open again after about 10 secs.

There’s no guarantee but it sounds like you do have EGR issues, I had similar symptoms on my 3.6 and was never sure even to the point where I changed them that they were the issue, but it did cure the problem once I did them, only difference mine did go into limp mode a couple of times, but would reset itself with an engine restart.
Once removed other than being dirty they looked perfectly fine, but they stick part open when in use hence the issue.
They can also break off at the end but that would be total failure.

Can be blanked on a 3.6 with a simple kit
Earlier models won’t flag up an EML. If it does, get it mapped out.
I’d take it to Martin Hind at Dartford Transmissions and Autocare Thumbs Up Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"
