United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.2 SC V8 Zermatt Silver
Petrol Service intervals

I’ve meant to ask this for ages but…

Why on an x5 which has a oil service interval of 12000miles does the same engine have 7500 on the front?

Why in the jag does the 4.2 have a 10000mile service interval but on the ff it’s 7500?

Just curious Current stable:
2006 BMW M6
2007 4.2 V8 S/C FF
Gone:
2002 4.4 V8 FF

The Land Rover product is designed to go further off road and tow heavier weights so it's service intervals are closer to help with the additional abuse it maybe put to.... Thumbs Up Pete

Also the same engine in the L322 will be working harder as it's heavier than the X5. Does the X5 have permanent 4wd or is it 'AWD'? 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

See I thought and believed this until the 5.0 - the schedule is 15k in the ff and the xkr? Current stable:
2006 BMW M6
2007 4.2 V8 S/C FF

I ask Land Rover CC this very question when I purchased my 2007MY 4.2 SC. They came back at confirmed the service interval was 15000 miles for 'normal use'.

Dan, you were originally talking about the earlier JLR products, before the bean counters got in on the act and they want the cost or ownership reduced to other manufacturers levels to be competitive in the overall ownership cost...

They need servicing more often than the others that use the same engines because of my original comments but the only question asked these days seems to be...

Will we sell any more products if we do this...??

It's a bit like ZF saying the oil lasts the life of the gearbox when the real answer is the gearbox lasts the life of the oil...!!!! Pete

Good point Pete I change the oil in the gearbox every 30k and engine 6000 old habit from years ago doesn't seem to have done any harm Laughing Laughing
