Thanks, I had seen this wiki and sounds like a simple fix, but not sure it's quite the symptoms I'm getting. I'm away at the moment (with the car) so I'll take a proper look when back at home. |

Hi Jamie, I've just had the same issue with my 09 3.6 Tdv8. The screen went black, on/off button flashing and no sat nav, radio tv or phone. I did a bit of research and figured the MOST optical system seemed a likely candidate. It sends an optical signal ( red light to you and me! ) through a fibre optic cable that feeds through all the modules. If there is a break it shuts all of them down. The signal starts out in the Integrated head unit behind the dash and then passes through the Cd changer to the display and then on to the portable audio module below the seat and then to the stack in the rear left hand quarter panel space. For an easy way to check for the break I removed the passenger seat and unplugged the fibre optic connection and checked for the red light! Luckily it was lit on one side so the problem was further back in the vehicle. I then went to the Bluetooth module ( easiest to get at ) in the boot and checked there, no red light! By disconnecting each module in turn and looking for the red light i eventually got to the tv module whgh had red light in but nothing out to the next one. I checked power and earth to the module and they were ok so bought a fibre optic repair/ test bypass connector from e bay. When I plugged it into the optical connector which went into the tv module everything worked except the TV. Bought a second hand tv receiver from E bay and plugged it in and all's well! Everything back to normal. Hope this helps. Dave. |

but please do not look at the red light more than a second, it is "laser light", and you should be using Laser Optic safe glasses when doing that sort of thing with any Fibre Optics !

there's no need to 'look' at the fibre optic light, you just shine it onto some dark material.. ... - .- -.

that's correct Stan, but so many people find it irrestible to look directly into it - and that is why I bothered to mention this more as a warning to others - hope you don't mind |
