Installing Westfalia Tow Bar on RRAB TdV8 '11 Design Pkg

I would like to install a Westfalia Tow Bar on my RRAB TdV8 4.4 '11 with Exterior Design Pkg ( fat rear Bumber)

I have seen I have already 2 longitudinal Westfalia bracket ( see picture ) p/n 323 070600003 alias LR P/N 6H42-5K247-AA

Questions:

1. is the Westfalia p/n ‎323062600001 KIT the one I need to buy?
like this one:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Westfalia-3230626...B00DQ7I0CY

2. I have to remove the 2 brackets installed? or the kit will attach on them?
3. Will it be possible to fit it considering the Exterior Design Pkg? Anyohne has a tow bar and the Fat rear Bumper?

>thanks

United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Santorini Black

Morning

This was sold some years ago through here and has a tow bar on a design pack.

https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic25215...ck+tow+bar

It may be necessary to have a cut out done if not part of the design kit.

The bad news is that those two longitudinals have to be replaced with a whole new armature with a welded in cross bar. AND according to PF Jones when I talked to them last, they are not made any more. So hens teeth and second hand unless very lucky.

The part you show in your link is the swan neck only, you still need the armature and receiver. They are also cheaper from PF Jones.

https://www.pfjones.co.uk/tow-bars/land-ro...wbars.html

They are available as they are considered replaceable weraing spares.

I haven't looked for other makes of bar, but give PF Jones a ring as they could suggest something. I found them very helpful when I dealt with them and, who knows, they may have a lead on a comlete bar.

Let us know how you fair.

I don't have any interest in PF J other than being a happy customer.

HTH Cheers
Richard

Hi, I have a 2012 AB with the design kit, I fitted a Westfalia tow bar subframe which is not the one shown on the eBay picture
the one you have shown I believe is just the swan neck? because of cost.
The correct fitting is much heavier and fits where the bumper and towing points are, which have to be removed.
When using the correct Westfalia system with the design kit, you have to remove the cover/splitter 4 plastic turn screws to attach the receiver, for the two types of hitch, Farmers or swan neck also the electrics sit within the bumper.
Don't forget you will have to tell the car that you have towing electrics ie: 7 pins or 13 pins otherwise the rear sensors will not cancel when reverse is selected.
My advice is to look for a good clean s/hand one.

Alex

I fitted a towbar to my car late last year.

I bought the Tow Trust towbar with the vehicle specific plug and play multiplug electrics and Al-Ko towball and bumper guard. The whole kit cost me £250 from Towbars-UK (the detachable is also available).

I looked into the Westfalia towbar but even 2nd hand, they're super expensive and to be honest, i'd want to fit all new fixings to it anyway, which means even more money. What I liked is that the Tow Trust towbar is super discreet and is available as both a fixed and detachable (but the fixed is only 2 bolts to remove).

Certainly one you should consider I think - there's a fair amount of space between the arm and my bumper so, it would definitely fit an AB bumper without any cut required.

Fitting a towbar to these things isn't for the faint hearted though! It is a BIG job regardless which one you buy. And those existing Wesfalia struts are a red herring! The whole lot has to be removed regardless which towbar you buy.

I like to detach the arm and towball in the winter months when I'm not boating ‐ there was a really nifty place to install the electrics on the underbody, so the socket is out of sight and allows the arm to be removed.
