2010 TDV8 3.6 propshaft replacement.

Has anybody replaced their rear propshaft on the drive?
By rights the exhaust should be removed so the heat shield can can be taken off in order to get to the centre bearing mounts etc.
Can the heat shield be wangled out without taking the exhaust off?
All help and advice gratefully received.
Ian

I did on my 2011 4.4. Heat shields came out ok, used long 3/8 extensions to undo the drive flanges - make sure the torx socket is a perfect fit
If doing on the floor please support chassis with suitable stands. I replaced mine for an OE spec shaft
Good Luck

Getting the propshaft out of the rear diff and the transfer box can be a struggle as there’s a cup that the shaft sits in. It’s a snug fit when new and an even tighter fit when there’s some age related corrosion thrown in.

Removing my exhaust and heat shields was the easy bit compared to the shaft.

One other point to consider is the size of the exhaust. It’s one piece from front to back (unless it’s been changed or modified) and is one hell of a lump to drop off especially if you’re on your back under the car.
