Slight but "deep" shuddering/vibration

I've got a very slight shuddering on mine which feels like I'm driving on a corrugated road.

I've got plans to get all the suspension bushes changed and the wheels refurbished (to check for out of round) and some new tyres. Especially as the rears are dated 2015 - I want them off the car.

It feels like a tyre out of round if I'm honest as the vibration is what I would class as "deep" which feels like a heavy eccentric mass rotating rather than say a propshaft out of balance - which I would suggest is a much more high frequency "light" vibration.

All my fluids have been changed, including the ZF8 filter and refilled with genuine Lifeguard 8 oil so I don't think it's the oil.

Any other thoughts? Christian.

I think I’ve found the problem.

One of my rear tyres has a split along the tread and a huge bulge across it.

I'm changing my rear tyres today as they are 7 yrs old. Still >5mm tread on them but there are surface cracks on the sidewalls. When I changed the fronts last month I noticed how less crashy the front was going over small road imperfections so reckon the rubber has aged way past being safe. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I hope for the sake of your wallet it is the tyre.

Exactly the same symptoms of mine just before terminal gearbox failure.

I hope it's the tyre.

The photo doesn't really show it much but the tyre looks like a bloody egg it's so far out of round.

How many miles had your car done when the gearbox failed? Was it the 8 speeder and had it been serviced? Christian.
