could it be rust under the shims that the pads slide on? |

Were the caliper slide pins moving ok? The upper pin has a rubber boot part way down that can swell and cause the pin to jam 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE |

I'd still put money on it being a sticky calliper.

The wheel bearing would have to be close to collapse to generate enough friction to warm the wheel.

All valid points thank you! However both pins were free as anything, and i always take the shims off and thoroughly clean under them them when changing pads.

If you don’t find anything else it could be the flexible brake hose at fault. They have been known to deteriorate internally and end up acting as a non return valve. |

If i remember correctly the rears were done as a dealer recall approx. 5 years ago. I would be disappointed if genuine parts had failed in that time although its not impossible. Will stick a caliper on it and see if that cures it if not then I agree that pipe is indeed suspect. |

If you see any black bits in the bled brake fluid, that would indicate if the flexi hose was breaking down.

Good point Mike! Have parked the Rangie up till the weekend till i can get a caliper. Will be interesting to see what comes out. |
