I have found a couple of threads about a similar problem but these seem to be later L322s.

The issue you will have is that even though you know it has fuel - the car may not and will soon induce the precautionary mis-fire to warn you.Then a little later it will throw the rattle and stop altogether to prevent engine damage (or so it thinks)
