Good Evening,

I have a 2007 4.2 SC with 60k miles.
There are no warning messages given. It engages forward, reverse, tiptronic gears and high and low range. Park has no effect and the car can be pushed forwards or backwards. Occasionally it will move with coaxing although not consistent, and, sometimes when selecting gears you can hear the pin ratcheting on the parking pawl guide plate.

Does this sound like a internal gearbox fault or possibly a comms error?

I had a very different problem with my gearbox but all I needed to do was free up and lube the linkage. It may well not fix your problem but it’s worth trying as it doesn’t cost anything. Geoff

After one if my drive shafts became dislodged from the diff I had similar symptoms
