Land Rover Remote App

Thoughts on this welcome.

I got an e mail from Land Rover suggesting I get the latest version of the app. Apparently it alerts you if the car is unlocked and lets you lock it. The version I have is pretty basic, tells me where I’ve been, allows me to download journeys and tells me where the car has been left and whether its locked. Works well, but the comments on the App Store suggest the more recent versions are basically a bugfest and it sends loads of erroneous messages or simply doesn’t load.

Have any members on here got real experience of this latest iteration, if so what do you think? I’m tempted not to bother.

Cheers

Andy

No problems here (Version 2.8.3), installed on two iPhones with a MY16. Getting the unlocked messages through on your Apple Watch is nice. Tbh my phone is set to automatically install updates and I haven't noticed any changes in behaviour with the app.

We have Climate (FBH), Door Lock, Beep & Flash, Journeys, Range, Security, Status and now the notifications you mentioned. Pretty basic but does what we need. Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

All fine here too on an Android Pixel 4XL that's starting to show its age. Sometimes takes a few goes to connect to the car but I think that's the car sleeping more than the app.

Got a genuine unlocked warning once, so was quite pleased with that.

What I do think is s Censored t is the route planning app which doesn't make it clear if the route you've planned has successfully been sent to that vehicle or not. It's a gamble on start-up and then sometimes you're halfway there when it suddenly appears as a 'new item' Rolling Eyes FFRR SDV8 Autobiography

So cant remember what the basic did, but the new version

Gives you range (fuel amount)
Security tab shows alarm status, doors, windows, bonnet, boot sunroof (that saved me 1 day during a cloud burst lol)
Guardian mode -gives an alert to phone if vehicle is unlocked, being started or doors opened during the period Guardian mode is switched on (ie shopping or overnight etc)
Vehicle lock reminders
DEF range, DPF status and mileage to next service
FBH and Engine start (depending on MY) while locked to warm up vehicle
Auto door lock/unlock, beep and flash. List of all journeys with mpg etc and map
Assistance tab gives you immediate 1 button push to request assistance or report car theft 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

Turns out it also lets you know when your washer fluid is low Rolling with laughter

I don’t get DEF range, DPF status or Guardian mode on our MY16 though. Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

I had a similar email from JLR and took a look at the latest App.

Not a fan, only additional feature is the unlock reminder and also prefer the look and feel of the old App.

I'm still on v1.81 which I'm comfortable with so I'm not going to be "upgrading" any time soon. 2021 D350 Fifty Edition - Carpathian Grey

I’ve downloaded the new version and will give it a go, but kept the old one just in case. The only ‘improvement’ seems to be that I can download multiple journeys, which is useful because having to do each journey to compile a mileage reimbursement was a faff. Still don’t have the remote heat function or remote start though, which I’m presuming needs to be activated in the car by the dealership.

Hi All,

My 2019 has a FBH but the app only has remote start. Has anyone had the FBH in app?

Has been some previous chat on this Thumbs Up

https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic53554.html

Seems it does, but also starts the engine too now. I think the old app did just the FBH as an option (that's what I took from it anyway) FFRR SDV8 Autobiography

I think if you buy the little remote blipper you can still do this (start FBH only) but I'm more than happy to be corrected FFRR SDV8 Autobiography

I have just got a remote but due to outside temps, no idea if the system works lol looks like can only heat now, no venting so unless it’s freezing, the system doesn’t work lol

I like the alert that tells me if I forget to lock.

On the new 460 cars will give additional info , eg amount of adblue left and condition of the exhaust filter.
May add additional functions for the petrol car? Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc
