Rear bush removal tools

Guys, will be replacing my rear bushes soon, anyone have any recommendations for the tools required to press them out and back in again? Christian.

Either a good hydraulic press or you could make up a 'bush removal tool' ALA Edd China on Wheeler Dealers. This seems to consist of some oversize sockets, oversize washers, some threaded bar with corresponding nuts and a bit of 'elbow grease'.
I'm getting all my suspension arm and anti-roll bar bushes swapped out for poly bushes by my local indy mechanic, as an experiment/challenge, just to see what the end effect is. The ride on my 2012 4.4TDV8 Westie isn't the best, so thought I'd take the plunge and see what would happen if I went 'all poly bush'. I'll be starting a thread in the next couple of weeks to report on my findings once the swap has been completed. Read though a couple of old threads on here about other owners experiences, but thought I'd take the chance, as poly bush technology has moved on quite a bit from the 'olden days'.

I did mine 20 mins each side, I used this kit. £25 perfect fit. (l322 upper rear bushes)
when you fit the new bush look for the slightly chamfered edge, on one side, this is the leading edge. it will go in easier. (with a little oil wiped on too)

I used a kit like this for my rear bushes, along with an impact driver. I would recommend a decent ratchet and extension bar for this job…

Plus lots of normfest freeze spray to help crack the rust!

And I followed the excellent guide by Joe90 in the wiki…

Thanks for that link, this is much more palatable than spending £80 on a tool I will probably only use once. I'd rather buy some more spares for the RR Laughing

I've already got a set of seal drivers, a fuel pressure gauge set, a set of helicoils that I have only ever used once, I seem to be collecting tools that only get one use.

I was considering some old sockets but it's hard to know what size.

I think I'll just buy the 25 quid one for now and see how I get on when my bushes arrive. Christian.
