TD6 Alternator Replacement and Viscous Fan Removal.

Well the time finally arrived after 20 years the alternator was failing and required replacing . Purchased a new one of line removed the old one and fitted the new one without issue. I had read up about removing the viscous fan and shroud so Purchased the relevant land rover tools (lrt-12-214 and 32mm spanner) . Discovered that all was reqwas the 42mm thin spanner and a large adjustable ! Wasted £103 on the special spanner! If anyone else with a TD6 wants to remove their viscous fan then don't make the mistake I did in purchasing the special spanner .I have now left the fan and shroud off and cannot believe the difference in lack of noise ! Test run car and all working perfectly so will not be refitting the fan any day soon 😉
