First Puncture in 13 years of L322!

Took the Westie for a wee photoshoot in the hills today and suffered my first ever puncture (off road) in thirteen years of L322 ownership. Shocked

Worst of all, I was 1200ft up with a biting wind, snow and only the standard LR jack in the boot. Big Cry

Got back onto the road and noticed that the rear was trying to overtake the front on the first corner. So, there was nothing else for it when I discovered a large hole in the side of the AT3 (cirlced below).....

In truth, it all went smoothly, the wheel was replaced within 15 mins and the car was back on the ground quickly. BUT, that LR jack isn't fit for purpose. The jack itself was ok when used properly, but the long-arm winding mechanism was like plasticine. It's now got a few extra bends and twists in it. Censored

Drove down to my local Indy and left the wheel with them to fit a new tyre which will be collected tomorrow. C'est la vie! Rolling Eyes The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

These types of jacks have killed a lot of people. Mainly likley not when changing wheels but when used to get under cars. Had one collapse on my in my youth when I was just about to do the same and that experience has stayed with me. One of my first purchases after a GAP IID tool was a merc sprinter bottle jack ( now have 2) and have recently also replaced teh space saver with a matching road wheel and tyre which is another lesson learnt although more recently. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
