Deployable steps fitting issues help its driving me insane !

I have decided to retro fit the deployable steps to my 2013 AB. I have purchased new control module, wiring harness, cabin switch and used steps and motors. I have fitted the wiring loom and plugged into the car. This generated a flashing light on the dash switch but nothing seems to happen to the actual steps when the doors are opened / closed. I tried the operation of holding the switch and then pressing start but this didn’t register any lights on the switch as it meant to. Can anyone help with ideas or fault finding? Do I need to get it fault code read??

OK, just reread your first post... Proposing you have been sold the correct module?

Have you allowed the car to go to sleep? Locked it and walked away for 20mins? Have you tried a hard battery reset?

I brought a new eco, new harness and new switch, used steps and brackets and motors. When I connected the car main wire block to the new ecu the interior switch did flash. Bu that’s it Confused

the car has been left to sleep locked and came back the next day and no joy. I haven’t done a hard reset yet. Haven’t actually disconnected the battery since I brought it. Assume I can just disconnect the one on the boot spare wheel well?

Do you think this will make a difference? Would and IId tool help at all do you think?

No, the 13MY doesn't have diagnostics for the steps or tow bar... Treat the system as a stand-alone system, sir...

Unplug the lot and start again and what happens? The same?

ok so I tried as follows:
Removed the boot liner
Laid the new wire harness under the carpet and placed the connectors through the plug holes on each passenger side
I connected the new harness to the new ECU from memory the plugs only connected 1 way
I removed the blank plate from the existing car wire harness and plugged to the new ECU
New switch was mouthed inside the car replacing existing boot release only version
Motors were then connected under the car
Nothing happened
Having read further I then tried to enable them by pressing the interior deployment switch with the engine start button. (White the engine was off) nothing happened, no lights on the switch as was expected
I tried removing the boot fuse box fuse (30a) to reset the system and still nothing

Where was the plug in your vehicle? Where have you mounted the ECU?

as you look in the boot the plug was the far right hand side, with a blank plate on it
I mounted the ECU inside a steel section near the car existing plug as there was limited options and length On the new harness

Wire harness part ref - VPLWP0178
ECU part ref - VPLGP0224
Switch came with the wire harness but appears to be fine as boot release function is working
