We have a verdict... 17.1kWh charging to 100%

EV distance was 25.7 km.

So 17.1 x 0.16 = € 2,74 (€ 0,158 / km).

Last time, fuel consumption full ICE was 8.8 L/100km, ( € 0.167 / km).

If the same distance had been covered with ICE --> 25,7 x 0,167 = € 4,30.

So this time I saved € 1,56 or (total trip 37,3km) , € 0,042 per kilometer.[b]

This falls in line with expectations. The shorter the distance, the more EV relatively,

the lower the cost per km. As long as the losses in electricity don't go through the roof !

Remember, charging at 15C ambient only needed 15 kWh. So keeping the battery warm

while charging cost 2 kWh !

All in all, the savings are pennies. At least in winter. And the car doesn't allow full EV

Sorry for the late reply, but I want to weigh in.

Comparisons on a cost basis are bordering on pointless. It should be almost entirely based on the experience. Why drop so much cash on our AB purchase and then nickel and dime the mpg etc? Seems Voguish to me. (Which is not to be derogatory to Vogue owners, simply to emphasise that Vogue owners are, by definition, cost conscious and AB owners are financially wasteful). L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Simple. I bought the car used. Still cost me € 100k .

I didn't set out for an AB or Vogue or whatever, just a petrol hybrid.

And exactly that bit, it doesn't do as to be expected.

In the mean time my electricity contract went up in smoke as the supplier went toes up.

New rate as of the 28th of this month, not € 0,16 per kWh, but € 0,53 cnts (since we are already above 10.000kWh).

No point in charging it ever again, until its back below € 0,20 per kWh.

So I pay about 700% of what you pay in the UK, mostly 'green taxes' .

Now we had solar panels installed last september, that should bring us down to about 4000kWh.

I am lucky to have a second building with a seperate contract. There I pay € 0,26 the next 5 years.

So I probably use existent power cables to feed back from the solar panels to this house.

and safe about € 800- per year the next 5 years, only on the price difference.

That is more then the panels cost me !

Oh, I see. Yikes! Totally agree, aside from maintenance or performance, no point in charging whatsoever.

I have 2 problems with EV cars

1. Range anxiety . Especially in a big county like Australia. With charging stations few and far between.
Fine for the wife's commute to work & back , some 40 miles each day
But I wouldn't be comfortable going to Melbourne on a day trip . 500 +++ miles . Would probably have to stay overnight to recharge so as we could get home

2. And this is a biggie for me. What happens to the EV car at it's end of life. From my understanding currently there is on way to recycle the battery packs. I could be totally wrong . I hope I am Or they very soon find a way to recycle these batteries.
Also from a few car companies they are only warrantying the batteries for 8 years AND that's not at full capacity

1. This is a hybrid, max 25 miles EV, 400 miles ICE..

2. LiIon, same as your cellphone. Warranty 8yrs or 100.000 miles, minimal 70% capacity.
Car can also do without.
