NavTool 6.0 now has Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

Hi everyone,

It's been less than a year since I bought and finally got my NavTool working in my '09 L322 (bought Nov 2020 but didn't get working until until April 2021). I wrote NavTool two months ago asking if they have any wireless solutions coming out and they gave a vague answer. Well, I just got an e-mail from them announcing NavTool 6.0-NBT.

They list the features as:

Quote:

  • Wireless Apple CarPlay.
  • Wireless Android Auto.
  • HDMI Input.
  • 4x Camera Inputs.
  • Use your vehicles factory microphone for Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, NO external microphone required.
  • Factory back up camera works even when in the Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto mode.
  • New easy to use menus.

I tried to contact them with all of the questions we would have but so far no reply (so the usual from NavTool).

I got the e-mail on 29 Oct and they had a special from the 29th through the 31st to, "Get Free Built-in Apple CarPlay/Android Auto with the purchase of NavTool interface a $200 value"

I don't know if I need to replace my current NavTool adapter, what the new adapter costs (if needed), if I can just add a component to get wireless on my unit, when it would ship. Basically, just like NavTool of the past, not much useful information.

I tried asking via their chat function and was told to reply to the promo e-mail and I should get a reply within 24 hours. That was Monday and still no reply.

Has anyone heard anything more about this? I'll update here if I get any useful information.

Thanks,

I got the email at the same time and asked if it could be used to convert the existing system.

That was Monday. I haven't had a reply.

I have tried to find 6.0 on their website but can't find it. TBH the system is working so well for me I don't know if it would be worth the additional cost. John

Yea, it does work well but rumors are out there that one of the not-too-distant iPhones will convert to not having any ports. So my NavTool would then be useless for my iPhone. Besides, it would be nice to not have to plug in the phone each time I drive somewhere.

Finally got a full-ish answer. Of course in their first reply they answered just my first question (very typical of them to not read the whole e-mail and give an incomplete answer). I had to reply and ask the questions again.

The new unit is a whole replacement. It's not an add-on device.

They said in the second reply:

Quote:
Hello the price is $799.99 currently there is a special for $599.99 also if you are an existing customer and purchase previously you get additional $50 off

The wires especially the video part that is complicated stayed the same because we’re pretty much adding wireless CarPlay and wireless android auto

It is now available for pre-order special price, and they ship in about six weeks, or at $799.99 they gonna be available at any time

So now I need to decide if I want to risk about $600 from NavTool for what could be a really good wireless solution or buy NaviPlus for just a bit more (about $740 USD) plus shipping.

Has anyone else heard anything about this?
